Stray Free Selangor: A Compassionate Initiative for Our Furry Friends
The Selangor Royal Family Leads the Charge for Humane Treatment of Stray Animals
In a significant move towards animal welfare, the Sultan and Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, along with the Raja Muda, launched the "Stray Free Selangor" campaign. With Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin as the royal patron, this initiative aims to educate the public on compassionate ways to care for stray animals while advocating for humane solutions.
The campaign, organised by the Selangor branch of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), is a groundbreaking effort in Malaysia. It seeks to address the issue of stray animal population control through education and collaboration with local authorities.
One of the primary goals of the Stray Free Selangor campaign is to shift away from the outdated and inhumane practice of catch and kill towards more compassionate solutions. By promoting spaying and neutering of stray animals and providing shelter, the campaign aims to create a society that values and cares for its furry inhabitants.
Lee Lam Thye, patron of Selangor SPCA, highlighted the importance of this initiative in controlling the stray animal population. He emphasized the need for cooperation from local government authorities to ensure compliance with the Animal Welfare Act 2015.
Christine Chin, chairman of Selangor SPCA, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the campaign's mission to foster a society that embraces stray animals with love and compassion.
The Stray Free Selangor cam]paign represents a significant step forward in animal welfare advocacy in Malaysia. With the support of the royal family and collaboration from various stakeholders, it holds the promise of a brighter, more humane future for stray animals in Selangor.
