Spooky Perks and Happy Treats: My Most Memorable Halloween at GMBB KL
From Devil Horns to Artistic Delights, A Halloween To Remember
Halloween might be all about ghosts, ghouls, and spooky scares, but this year, it turned out to be an unexpected treat for me. As I wandered through the creative hub of GMBB KL, located in Bukit Bintang, little did I know that I was about to have the best Halloween celebration of my life.
My journey began earlier when I visited the Telur Pecah Exhibition at GMBB. It's a place that aspires to be an enterprising hub for Malaysian creatives, artists, and artisans to collaborate and thrive together. I had explored the wonderful Books and Bob bookstore at Level 2 on a previous visit, and I couldn't wait to see what surprises GMBB had in store for Halloween.
On the day itself, I decided to drop by GMBB, and I made a beeline for the super awesome specialty coffee shop at Level 2 known as Cafyn. There, I enjoyed a spooky Halloween latte, accompanied by a delicious pastry. But what truly made this visit unforgettable was my conversation with the owner of the cafe.
Cafyn, as I learned, is a women-owned enterprise, and the founder's vision for coffee and the cafe was both inspiring and heartwarming. I couldn't help but admire her dedication to her craft and her commitment to creating a welcoming space for coffee lovers like me.
As if that wasn't exciting enough, I was lucky to meet the founder of Jidkay Artworks. He generously lent me a pair of devil horns, a perfect accessory for the Halloween-themed costume contest hosted by GMBB. Little did I know that this chance meeting would lead to an unexpected, heartwarming twist.
Fast forward a few days, and I received the incredible news that I had won the costume contest! GMBB had gifted me with a generous amount of gift vouchers, which allowed me to embark on my own little artsy shopping adventure in the mall.
My first stop was at Lasprecious Design, an ocean-themed store. I picked up something special for myself and a lovely surprise for my bestie. Next on the list was ARTERY, featuring products from over 40 local independent artisans. I couldn't resist the cat-themed items and other unique creations that filled the store.
Then, I visited the second floor, where Books and Bob had always held a special place in my heart. I couldn't leave without exploring the Darkroom Gallery, an immersive photography gallery inspired by the acclaimed Borneo’s Tree of Life exhibition.
I had a dear friend visiting from Germany, and together, we marveled at the mesmerizing photography and the cool all-dark treatment that transformed the gallery into a space of wonder.
But the adventure didn't end there. My last stop was at Manoplus, where I found a lovely love-shaped, gold-plated necklace from allithing. MANO PLUS showcases well-made contemporary objects that fulfill daily needs, and I knew I had found something truly special.
Inspired by the simple things in life, MANO PLUS reflects the best of contemporary design, produced by local and international independent brands. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to get items by Olfac3, LilinCo, and more. The fragrances by Olfac3 and the candles by LilinCo are some of my favorites, and I'm proud to support local brands and artists in Malaysia.
In a country that proudly declares itself "Malaysia Truly Asia," it's a privilege to explore and support local products, businesses, and artisans. The diversity and creativity in this nation are awe-inspiring, and I encourage everyone to embrace locally made products.
As I conclude this tale of my unforgettable Halloween at GMBB KL, I can't help but call upon you, dear reader, to experience the magic of GMBB for yourself. Visit this creative community hub, immerse yourself in art, culture, and creativity, and who knows, you might just find yourself having the best time of your life.
So, go ahead, explore, support local, and celebrate the true spirit of Malaysia. In the heart of Kuala Lumpur, GMBB awaits with open arms, ready to enchant your senses and inspire your soul.
Don't miss the chance to make your own magical memories at GMBB KL, because sometimes, it's the unexpected adventures that turn out to be the most remarkable.
