🌟 Happy Labour Day! 🌟
As we celebrate this day dedicated to honouring the contributions of workers everywhere, let's take a moment to reflect on the deeper meaning behind our daily endeavours.
Work as Worship
Have you ever pondered the notion that we engage in "worship" on Sunday and "work" on Monday? From God's perspective, every day offers opportunities for worship in various forms. The Hebrew word for "worship" in Psalm 2:11, "abad," translates to "to labour, work, do work, and serve," appearing 290 times in the Old Testament. Have you considered viewing your work as a form of worship?
This isn't solely applicable to those in ministry or church roles; it encompasses all endeavours that occupy our time and energy, hence the interchangeable term "occupation" for work. Whether you're a ruler, judge, server, preacher, accountant, educator, soldier, healthcare provider, or a caregiver known as a stay-at-home parent, God perceives all your endeavors as acts of worship, to be undertaken with reverence and joy.
Personal Reflections
In my life, I've come to a place where I can pursue work that aligns with my passions. As an INFJ-T, I find immense satisfaction in writing and articulating my thoughts. My work isn't just a means of income; it's an expression of worship. I'm passionate about causes like the Pro Life Movement, Biblical Sexuality, Faith & Religion, Animal Welfare and Mental Health advocacy, stemming from my own journey as a neurodivergent individual with Bipolar 2 disorder and childhood trauma. Above all, I'm passionate about sharing the gospel and the love of my Lord & Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Work with Grace and Purpose
For me, work isn't a burden but an opportunity to serve the Lord. I strive to do my best while extending grace to myself, especially when faced with challenges or setbacks. Working with clients from around the world has taught me the importance of flexibility and self-care. I'm grateful for the ability to work remotely, a freedom that allows me to pursue my passions while maintaining a sense of independence.
Conclusion: Serving with Joy
Labour's Day is a reminder that every task, no matter how mundane, can be infused with meaning and purpose. Just as Jesus came to serve and pay the ultimate ransom for our sins, we, as His followers, are called to serve purposefully and discerningly. Let us prioritize self-care and mental health while embracing the freedom to live out our passions and convictions. Remember, you are loved by God, and your work is a form of worship unto Him.
