Answering the Call: Sharing Hope and Faith as Christ's Disciples
Embracing Christ's Command to Share Hope in a Broken World
In the final moments before ascending into Heaven, Jesus left His disciples with a profound directive: "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:19, NIV). This charge wasn't solely for His immediate followers but extended to every believer across time, transcending eras and generations.
As followers of Christ, we're entrusted with this timeless command. While Christ's physical presence is absent, His call for us to be His ambassadors, to spread His message of hope and redemption, remains resolute. We are His hands and feet in a world often clouded by despair.
Matthew 28:19 (NIV) isn't just a call to proselytize; it's an invitation to bring light into darkness, to reveal the enduring hope that all humanity has in the triumph over sin and death through Christ's sacrifice.
Matthew 28:19 (NIV): "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."
Jesus didn't restrict this charge to a select few. He ordained each of us as His messengers, equipping us to share the good news and illuminate hope in the lives of those around us. This Christmas season, amidst the festivities and celebrations, let's embrace the opportunity to share the hope we hold as followers of Christ.
Remember the words in Romans 10:14 (NIV), "How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?" Our reluctance to share the hope we cherish might deprive someone of the very message they've been longing for.
Romans 10:14 (NIV): "How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?"
Do you have individuals in your life who are yet to encounter the good news? A friend, a family member, a colleague, or a neighbor? This season presents a fertile ground to share the hope that anchors our faith. Don't let apprehension or fear hinder you. Sometimes, people are more receptive than we anticipate.
The truth of Christ's message is too remarkable to keep to ourselves. The hope it brings transcends circumstances and mends brokenness. It's a hope that offers eternal solace amidst temporal turmoil.
So, as disciples of Christ, let's boldly step forth, recognizing that our role isn't merely to convert but to share a hope that surpasses understanding. The charge to make disciples of all nations isn't a burden but a privilege—a divine call to illuminate hope in a world yearning for healing.
In this season of joy and celebration, let's embrace the divine commission. Let's be the vessels through which hope flows into the lives of those around us. For this hope we carry isn't merely a story; it's the narrative of restoration, redemption, and eternal love.
